You can start the course at any time.
Certificate Training involves the completion of all 3 Stages from introduction to HACCP through to developing HACCP plans. You must pass all module quizzes and the final exam to receive your certificate of completion. However, if you are already familiar with food safety and HACCP and would like to focus or upgrade on specific areas, then Stage Training is another option. Users have the flexibility to train in any Stage or combinations of Stages. If you are registered in Stage Training you can change to Certificate Training at any time.
Once registered (Certificate Training or Stage Training) you will have 12 months access to the materials.
This certificate is designed to provide a thorough understanding of food safety and HACCP for people with limited food science or industry experience. It will be of interest to those wishing to upgrade their food safety knowledge and will benefit those with new job responsibilities, new positions or those looking to change careers.
To complete this program, you don’t need a degree but familiarity with food processing technology such as bacteria, pH, sanitizers, etc., is helpful. A glossary is provided to help you become familiar with common food safety and HACCP terms, as well as a list of additional resources about food safety, food hazards and more.
You can take the courses from wherever you have a computer linked to the Internet! The benefit of the online format is that you can work around your busy schedule by studying from the comfort of your own home or office – at a time convenient to you. There are no classes to attend. All that is required is a computer, an Internet connection, and a desire to learn.
A Certificate of Completion is only available through Certificate Training. You need to complete all of the modules and pass the quiz at the end of each module. To pass the quizzes you must obtain a mark of 70% or higher. You must also pass the Final exam with a mark of 70% or higher.
If you’re not successful passing the quiz on the first try you can repeat the test as many times as needed. If you are having difficulty answering the questions you may want to review the material again.
This is a self-taught course, but as a registered user, you will have access to a moderated message board. This message board will allow you to post any comments or questions you have about the course material. A HACCP administrator will review all postings and reply as appropriate. As well, other students may offer information or suggestions, for example, from their own work experience.
You will have 2 attempts to pass the final exam. If after two unsuccessful attempts, you will be locked out and you will need to contact the HACCP Administrator.
The Certificate program consists of 3 stages, for a total of 19 modules. Most modules will take 1-1.5 hr to complete. The quizzes should only take 5-10 minutes to finish. If you were to take the Certificate course all at once, you could finish this within a week. However, you have up to 12 months to complete the certificate, which is useful if you are working or studying full-time.
